India has a shortage of an estimated 600,000 doctors and 2 million nurses, say scientists who found that lack of staff who are properly trained in administering antibiotics is preventing patients from accessing life-saving drugs.

In India, there is one government doctor for every 10,189 people (the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a ratio of 1:1,000) or a deficit of 600,000 doctors, and the nurse: patient ratio is 1:483, implying a shortage of two million nurses.

Pursuing doctorate can be a good option if you have an interest since there is a huge demand for good, capable and deserving doctors.

NON-MEDICAL

SCOPES:

1.ENGINEERING

2.ARCHITECT

3.HOTEL MANAGEMENT

DEMAND OF ENGINEERING:

Software engineering has seen continuous growth over the past few years and there are no signs of it stopping. Data science is a branch of software engineering that involves creating meaningful information based on large amounts of data. These large datasets are known as big data and can come from a variety of sources such as e-commerce, medical or financial sectors. This field uses both statistics and software engineering to gather, analyse and present data in such a way as to allow the end-user to optimise their specific services.

DEMAND OF ARCHITECT:

Despite the fact that India has more than 200 colleges which impart education in Architecture, there is an acute shortage of trained architects who can fulfil the current requirement. Moreover, the mismatch of supply and demand is expected to widen up as urbanization, industrialization and the increased need for accommodation of all types is coming up in a big way. Private construction companies require trained architects who can carry out various construction projects and for that, these companies are willing to pay hefty salaries.

MARKET WATCH:

According to the current demand for architects, India needs more than 10,000 trained professionals in various government and private organizations. Whereas qualified architects coming from top-notch architecture colleges are placed in various real estate developing companies, the government jobs are filled by various examinations conducted each year at the national level. Professionally trained and qualified architects have plenty of options working with consultancy companies, architect firms, universities, etc. International market particularly the USA, Dubai, Australia offer an attractive career for architecture professionals. Post-recession demand is expected to increase in the USA architect firms/real estate developing companies.

DEMAND OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT:

India is being considered as one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Tourism contributed 6.9% to our country’s GDP in 2015 and almost 8.7% of the employment. And this sector is expected to grow tremendously, roughly 7.5% of our GDP by 2025. Today, Hotel Management is not only restricted to hotels but has gone a long way to catering, clubs, food and beverage industry, resorts, airlines, cruise and many more. The hotel management forms a big part of tourism, and the government is in favour of investing in it and supporting it in every way possible.

The demand for smart and skilled professionals in this industry is growing at a fast pace, not only in our country but also worldwide. India’s hotel industry is dealing with a lack of skilled and retainable professionals. With this age of social media, everyone is aware of what to expect in a hotel and the standards one need. The ease with which one can review and rate hotels are also of the reasons for every hotel/resort to maintain their standards and stand out from their peers. For this, we need skilled graduates/professional in the Hotel Management industry.

COMMERCE

SCOPES-

1.B.B.A

2.CS

3.CHARTERED ACCOUNT

DEMAND OF B.B.A:

There are plenty of job opportunities available for BBA Graduates. To be specific, BBA graduates can look for jobs in sales and marketing department of companies as management trainees. A BBA degree along-with some years of work experience will surely take you to the leadership position in any organization. The initial salary in this profession starts from Rs.12, 000 to Rs.18,000 per month. However, it depends on the company’s value in the market and also on your skill and talent.

DEMAND OF C.S :

Mangaluru chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India said there was abundant scope for students pursuing company sec
rotary course in the wake of the recent amendments to the Companies Act.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a workshop here, Chapter Chairman Chethan Nayak said the ordinance makes it mandatory for a listed company or a company having paid-up capital of ₹5 crore or more to have a full-time company secretary (CS) to continue as an “Active Company”.

Mr Nayak said as of now the number of such companies is more than the availability of qualified CS and the demand for such professionals would increase drastically in the coming days. Such demand is expected to continue for another five years, he said.

DEMAND OF CHARTED ACCOUNTANT:

The demand for chartered accountants in India has been on a rise. This is mainly because more businesses are being established and the government has been making policies and regulations to monitor the market. As of March 2018, over 1.03 crore taxpayers have registered in GST regime. However, there are not many professionals to guide these taxpayers.

There is an immediate need to tap the talent and skill them in advanced tax calculations. Training in Artificial Intelligence to participate in the growing automation of the auditing process is needed.

Since the GST is a new law, which combines various laws into singular legislation and requires periodical compliances and interpretation, the need for CAs will increase rather than decrease," said Sandeep Shah, partner, NA Shah Associates LLP.

The demand is not just because of the change in the economy, but also because of the crucial job roles that CAs have been catering to, for instance, Internal Audit, Tax Audit, Tax Planning, Cost Planning, Due Diligence, Audit under various State and Central Legislatures, Government Audit, Management Audit etc. Around 98 lakh businesses were registered under the GST regime, and every business requires a professional to manage the accounts related matters. "Under GST regime all the taxpayers whose annual turnover is above Rs 2 crore, will require to have GST audit carried out by CAs", added Shah.
